About my work:
When my work is made, the questions 'what is of value?' and 'what is true?' come to my mind. A small, subjective, impulsively made work is of too little general value to be presented. For me it functions only as a motive to make a bigger, more distant work, that gets a more objective value trough its technique and substantial amount of labour. When I am painting the pixels I analyse the painting and in the same time it is a meditative experience. Because the presentation of the painting already exists in the smaller work I started with, the reproduction of this idea unlocks the way to painting. The reproduction of the image trough the pixel version includes all components that intrigues me: it tickles my sight, gives attention for detail, refinement, colour, reflection, change of form, abstraction. Simply screen-printing the reproduction would omit the most important step in the process: the painting.

The part of the computer in this process is, to make the way of reproducing exactly as I want. And the 'new'-medium gives the opportunity to make interactive and/or animated work. As a solitary product, or as a part of / in combination with a painting.

Through reproduction a personal idea becomes of more value, because of the delicious process.
